Party polaroids

The obligatory work part of summer has ended so for the next month and a half I’ll do nothing but chill, hang out, party, eat and drink. We certainly did a lot of that last night! The morning after kind of resembled Katy Perry’s TGIF song, but my girls and I had so much fun so I gladly take the hangover as the result of a great evening.

THANK GOD IT’S SUMMER!

Poodles & birds

And what do we have here? Is this a dress? With poodles on it? Really? A dress with little dogs on it? Dogs and dresses? Doesn’t that sound familiar? Like the name of this blog? HOW APPROPRIATE!

Couldn’t bear the thought of having to choose between the pink and the orange dress, so I decided to bring both of them home with me. Luckily Primark prices allow you to make rash decisions like that. Paired them with this brown satchel I found in Primark sales for the happy price of 5 euros –yay– and these boots which are my latest vintage find.

Tommy Hilfiger Prep Style Contest

advertorial

Preppy dictionary
First of all, what does preppy mean anyway?
Preppy [prep-ee], plural -pies, adjective, -pi•er, -pi•est.
of, pertaining to, characteristic of, or being a style in dress or mode of behavior of a preppy.
- source: dictionary.com

So to abstract, think wealthy families, boarding schools, summer mansions, golf, sailing and lacrosse, good manners, gossip girl style and old money. Want to learn more about the meaning of prep? The Official Preppy Handbook by Jonathan Roberts lets you in on all the secrets.

Preppy Must-Haves
If you’re going for the preppy look there are a few items you have to incorporate into your outfit. Layer V-neck sweaters over oxford shirts or polo shirts. Add short skirts, wool shorts or capri pants and throw on a colourful blazer. To finish the look accessorize with a fedora hat, knee socks, flats and most importantly: the right attitude, and you’re good to go.

Preppy ambassadors
The prep look is hot and happening right now, and here are a few of my favourite prepsters.

Miroslava Duma – Serena Van der Woodsen

Olivia Palermo – Taylor Tomasi Hill

Alexa Chung – Ashley Olsen

Pure

Warm days call for high heeled sandals and pretty white summer dresses. I love the cleanness a white garment brings to a look and therefor I own a bunch of white dresses, mostly all with lace detailing. This one however is plain organic cotton and features three cute golden buttons on the body. Not only is it a pretty girly dress, it was quite the bargain too. I got it at H&M in pre-sales for just 10 euros. The only thing I wanted to add to this look were some –really- high heels: enter my ASOS Highway heels (previously worn here).

Last but not least I would like to thank every single one of you who voted for my collage on Style-Lab. Thanks to all your votes I was named the winner of the River Island birthday give-away. I’ve won a gift voucher worth 100 euros, so expect a lot of pretty RI-goods on the blog soon.

Forever21 cocktail party

With a bit of a delay, but nonetheless: my Forever 21 cocktail party report! As most of you know by now the “blogger meet-up of the year” took place last week. Pretty much all of Belgium’s bloggers went to Brussels to celebrate the first Belgian Forever21 store opening. It was so fun to see lots of familiar faces and of course to meet new people.

The venue of the party was pretty awesome. Think pink flamingos, palm trees, a great band and lots of pretty fashion people. Throw some (actually, a lot) of free drinks, a holographic runway show and yummy candy on top of that ét voilà, everything you need in order to have the best night.

The F21 cocktail party was great, but it did make me even more anxious to finally step foot in the actual shop and go loose. And by loose I mean L-O-O-S-E! Luckily I (and many of you I’m sure) don’t have to wait much longer. Official launch date of the store in BXL is 30th of July. A month after that the giant Forever21 flagship store opens its doors on the Meir in Antwerp. So for those of you who missed this party, don’t worry, there will be lots of Forever21 madness in the future!

Pictures thanks to Christin, Catherine, Julie and Forever21.

The graduate

My twitter-followers already got the real-time exclusive, but i have some great news I proudly want to tell all of you: I’m graduated. Yihaa!

Finally, after three years of pulling all-nighters I have my bachelor degree. True, those long nights were mainly the result of a lot of partying, but there certainly was some studying involved somewhere. No, I’m selling myself short here, I was quite the academic when I needed to be (read: only in times of exams). But it’s the result that counts, right? And my journey towards this day of graduation has been truly amazing. I met the most interesting people; gained friendships that I’m sure will last a lifetime and experienced things that only made me grew stronger and wiser.

By closing one chapter of my life, another one begins. I’m not diving into the professional working pool just yet, there’s plenty time for that in the future. Come September I will start my bachelor in communication management and public relations. That’s right, I’m becoming the new Samantha Jones (minus all the physical escapades that is).

But that’s still in the future, for now the only things on my mind are chilling in the sun, catching up on some reading, hanging out with the friends and doing.absolutely.nothing. Oh the good life! (I do start my summer job next Monday, but let's not think about that for now..) How’s your summer’s going to look like? Hanging poolside at Lake Cabo with that Nespresso-dude? Rock-climbing and scuba-diving in Australia? Tell me, I want to know!
