I Got | Ray Ban Vision

First off: I’m writing this post with the tiniest of hang-overs, a state in which wearing sunglasses is encouraged, so this post is excellently timed.

Sunglasses.

It doesn’t take a genius to figure out my favourite style of sunglasses. For me the iconic Wayfarer model by Ray Ban never fails to disappoint. The frames work with every type of outfit, exude coolness and come in enough different styles to change up your look every once in a while.

I’ve been sporting the original Wayfarer in tortoise on a daily basis – and it shows in my outfit posts.

I got mine via Smartbuyglasses.nl, an online shop specialised in both sunnies and prescription glasses , and which offers over 150 designer brands to choose from. I mostly stick with my Ray Bans tho – if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. To prove to you guys that Ray Bans go with all kinds of outfits I turned to Polyvore. Results below.

Milan Moments | Vogue Fashion's Night Out

So little time, so much to share. I have a bunch of London posts lined up for you guys, but to try and keep somewhat of a chronologic order I’m sharing some pics from Milano first. I took off for a short Italian get-away in the beginning of September, where we spend five days wandering around Milan. Beautiful architecture, luxurious stores and delish sushi = good times.

Throughout the entire stay we experienced beautiful weather and hot temperatures. Not always easy when you’re spending your day walking around a concrete city with little to no shadow. So I opted for comfy and airy ensembles to keep me from melting.

From left to right: a typical outfit for a day of sightseeing: loose shorts by Zara and a simple tee. / for some reason I wanted to bring along a truckers cap, which actually came in handy to protect my face from te sun! / loose tee and shorts, denim this time / night on the town = fancy attire. I wore a subtle snakeskin printed dress for Vogue Fashion's Night Out / switched shorts for skirt, remained faithfull to the converses / a simple but classy outfit for some shopping around Via Torino / the travel outfit in which I flew back to Belgium.

“What do you want to do for your 23th birthday?” “EAT SUSHI”. And so we did. We got really lucky to come across Wasabi on Via Ponte Vetero – hands down the best discovery of our entire trip. Copious amounts of tasty sushi, seaweed soup and dessert to top it all off - and all of that for only 10 euros. Bar-gainnn! Go there between 6 and 9PM for the extensive sushi buffet and delish cocktails. I had the Peach on the Beach = yumz.

The day after my birthday the city turned into one big fashionshow for Vogue Fashion’s Night Out – an event I’ve heard of before (Gossip Girl!) but never actually visited. Each and every retail store in the city center was open till midnight, drinks were being served, beats were being played and streetstyle pics were being snapped. A mini Fashion Week, if you’d like. The city was crowded to the max and full of fashion vibes.Late night shopping with a glass of champagne in your hand? Always a win in my book.

I’d definitely recommend visiting Milan since it’s one of the most lovely cities I’ve ever visited. Clean streets, beautiful architecture and well-dressed people all around. Milano, I’ll be back.

Quick Hello | From London

A quick hello from my fave city in the entire world – can you guess which one already? Esprit invited me over to London to attend their already epic in-store event and to get to know the brand a bit better. We’ve been here for about two hours and already they made a huge impression on me. I’ll talk more about Esprit and the lifestyle behind the brand in a post to come, for now all I want to do is dive into that enormous fluffy bed in the middle of my room and enjoy some sweet city dreams. Talk to you in the morning! X

Tested | Daytime statement lips

instagram: @eln_m

Anyone else who thinks wearing lipstick is such a hassle? I can’t really be bothered with checking my face every two minutes and am therefore more of a chapstick girl as far as my day-to-day make-up routine’s concerned (I collect Lipsmackers like a twelve-year old). But stepping out of your own comfort zone from time to time can be interesting, and seeing I really like a statement lip I decided to give it a go. The purple lip-trend was particularly appealing to me, since I’m head over heels in love with all purple and plum shades for winter.

I had a hard time finding the right shade of purple. I probably should’ve gone straight to MAC, but I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on a lipstick that I might wear one time. And so I stopped by the local Kruidvat and picked up the darkest, most purple-ish and least sparkly lipstick I could find. It’s by 2B and costs just under 5 euros. It’s still a bit too shimmery for my taste – I had this very matte shade in mind – but it’ll do. Wearing lipstick during the day made me feel all dresses up, so I paired this look with some casual Topshop gear and my converses (which you've seen before here). Are you a fan?

Happy Birthday | To Me

pics by Robin M.
wearing: dress - French Connection / pumps - ASOS / shades - Ray Ban

Ceeeeeleeeeebraaaaaatiiiiiiioooooooon – it’s my birthday!

I turn 23 today and even though I'm not at home to commemorate this fact with my friends and family, Milano is probably the second best place to celebrate ;-) I'm keeping this short as there's lots yet to be explored in the city, but I hope you like these pictures as much as I do. My bro's a pro - thanks nootje!

Love,
Elien

To share the birthday love I get to give away three products of the new Nuxe line. The melting cleansing gel, micellar cleansing water and crème mask with rose petals – which smell divine! – are up for grabs! Drop me a line at win@dogsanddresses.com with your contact info and cross those fingers. This give-away will close on Monday the 10th of September. GL!
