Watch This | The Look

I feel like I should be talking more about movies and visual stuff (since that's supposed to be my area of expertise and stuff) so here’s me introducing a post on… … … YouTube videos! The Look is a weekly YouTube show in which Laura Brown, Features/Special Projects Director of Harper's Bazaar and all-round crazy person, chats with Stylish Women (yes capital letters are in order here – a few of the interviewees are no less than Nicole Richie, Gwen Stefani and Rachel Zoe). I discovered these vids on the Hello Style Channel and I love the quirky, over the top sarcastic style in which Brown interviews. Best thing is that the stylish ladies all play along, which makes for a fun 6 minute interview. Thought I’d share these with you, have fun watching and let me know what you think!

Mission Perfect Black Boots: Completed

Mission Perfect Black Boots: completed. I’m happy to announce that my hunt for the perfect black winter boots is now over - well, at least I hope so, I’ve yet to receive these pretty boots that I ordered online, but from the looks of it they are beyond perfect. Still a few more days till Mr. Postman drops them of, but I decided to begin planning outfits around them already. These looks are all very school-inspired, since that’s a big part of my life right now. Tell me, which one’s your favourite?

Instagram Looks

Instagram: @dogsanddresses

After changing my profile pic on FB last night it hit me that I never actually posted these Instagram shots from London before. Outfit two and three are featured in outfit posts here and here, and I wore the first one for a night at the pub. Anyways, thought it would be fun to share these with you after all. Ahh London-cravings.

Label Love | Spratters & Jayne

Big scarfs and chunky knits are without a doubt the best thing about winter. My colourful collection of warm scarfs is the first thing I pull out when temperatures start dropping. Always looking to add a new gem to my knitwear collection I came across new brand Spratters & Jayne. Browsing through the website of this luxury handmade scarfs brand the inevitable happened: I fell in love.

I’m especially digging that ultra-chunky Infinity Chain Scarf from the first pic. In a dark grey or deep burgundy, this would be the key item in my a/w wardrobe. Have you heard of the brand before? You’ll have to wait a little more for their online shop to open, but in the meanwhile we get our chunky scarf fix over at asos.com. What’s your favourite piece?

Marc by Marc Jacobs | Brussels Store Opening

You can’t imagine how long I’ve been waiting for our own Marc by Marc Jacobs shop in this little country. “Beyond excited” was the emotion I felt when rumors first started spreading of a MBMJ store in Brussels, followed by “thrilled to the bone” when said rumors were actually confirmed. My patience was tested when the launch of the store got kicked back a full year but last Friday it was finally happening: I got to set foot in Mister Marc’s little paradise, right here in Brussels.

My favourite item? The 'Katie', an amazing box bag that can be carried in different ways. Love the hot pink version, the price tag not so much. (pic below by Jak&Jil - get it here)

The collection of bags left little to the imagination, but I was kind of disappointed with the overall selection of items in the store. After having waited such a long time and with that, building up my expectations, I wasn’t as blown away as I thought I would be. No extensive array of lovely MBMJ sneakers wedges and the supposedly Bookmarc – the first real MBMJ bookstore to open in Europe – was nothing more than a corner with as little as 7 different books. This might change as my visit was actually on the day before the real opening, so I hope there’s still a lot of stock yet to come. Let’s just take this as yet another reason to plan my next visit to the Marc by Marc Jacobs Brussels store ;)

As always, I had the best of times with my blog colleagues. Laughing about the most random things, taking pictures of ourselves in mirrors and stuffing our faces at McDo afterwards, #goodtimes. Oh and yes, that’s me carrying a MBMJ shopping bag. You didn’t think I could walk out of Mister Marc’s store without damaging my credit card, now did you? I’ll show my new buy in an outfit post to come, and I might pair it with my new Marc by Marc Jacobs watch that I got a few weeks ago. As you may recall, I have a thing for Marc’s timepieces.

New | Worker Boots

A girl can never have too many shoes... My shoecloset lacked a pair of though combat-inspired worker boots, so when I stumbled upon this pair by Friis & Company I caved and ordered them via Spartoo schoenen. I mostly like the pattern in the leather and I can already imagine myself styling them with this kind of outfit. Like?

Press | Start Spreading the News

September was a good month for the blog! Between my visit to LFW and our Bloggers Closet Sale there were a few interviews, features and mentions. Want a list? You got it!

Dutch fashionwebsite FollowFashion named me their blogger of the week in the beginning of September and ran a fun article about me – read it here.

During London Fashion Week the girls and I got streetstyle-snapped by various media. Pics above are from Knack Weekend and Triumph. I'm wearing this particular outfit.

The Bloggers Closet Sale @ AFN was an amazing night and the lovely comments we received the days after the event were the cherry on the cake. Afrodite and I did a short interview with Zoe van Gastel for Hotspot, the lifestyle show on regional television channel atv. Watch our appearance above or view the full report about Antwerp Fashion Night at the source.

Guido Guido Guido! A while back I did an interview for Guido magazine and it got published in their Sept/Oct issue. It’s a full two page piece on the blog, my make-up habits and favourite fashion adventures. Pick up your copy at all Flemish universities or train stations or read the online version here.

An Afternoon In Paris | with Cointreau & Alexis Mabille

10.30 / Trading in good old Antwerp for a whirlwind visit to Paris? Oui, s'il vous plaît! I’m invited to the Alexis Mabille s/s13 show. It’s been a while since my last trip to Paris and I’ve never quite felt the same love for the city as I do with London – I’m not that fluent in French (but working on it), I don’t know the tube system by heart and there’s no Topshop – but I am anxious to explore a whole new side of the city: after all, it’s Fashion Week!

12:30 / Bonjour Paris! After a relaxing ride on the Thalys (hooray for free WiFi!) I arrive at Paris Nord and meet up with guide of the day and local Melwin. Next stop: Cité de la mode et du design for the Alexis Mabille show.

13:00 /
Time for a healthy lunch at Wanderlust. We ponder ordering some champagne to celebrate my first ever front-row fashion experience, but seeing as it was only noon at the time, I opted for wine instead. Munching on my salad du jour while looking out over La Seine is a good way to start my Parisian day.

14:30 / Showtime! The collection, which was very girly, accessible and cute, failed to mesmerize me a full hundred percent. Alexis - middle name: bow – Mabille sent out a recognizable and wearable but not very refreshing collection down the runway. My favourite pieces are the flowy white shirtdress and electric blue shirt.

15:00 / Quick stop at Merci. Eduoard Vermeulen of Natan designed a minicollection in honour of fashion week with a few Audrey Hepburn-inspired pieces, items of which the profits go to the humanitarian project of Marie-France Cohen, founder of Merci.

16:00 / Drinks at the beautiful Hotel Raphael, which happens to be the favourite Parisian bar of Dita Von Teese, who happens to be the spokesperson of Cointreau. So what better drink to order than a Cointreaupolitan – hands down my favourite cocktail ever. It just so happens that Alexis Mabille designed a limited edition bottle for Cointreau, adorned with his trademark bows, which is a gorgeous collector’s item to have in your bar at home. Want? Drop by Baby Beluga in Antwerp for your own LE bottle of Cointreau.

16:40 / Busily sipping on cocktails, I loose track of time and so the last 30 minutes in Paris are spent rushing to la gare to catch the 17.30 train back to Antwerp. We drive by some of Paris’ famous landmarks and I happily snap some of them with my phone from the back of the cab. See you next time Paris!
