The Weekend Edit

Hollywood Hills Burglar Bunch // Based on real-life events and written and directed by Sofia Coppola, The Bling Ring attracted my attention from day one. The movie tells the tale of five teenagers living in California and breaking in into the homes of Hollywood stars. The movie features Emma Watson, Taissa Farmiga, Leslie Mann, Israel Broussard and Katie Chang. Thanks to Google Maps and Foursquare and by checking celebrities’ Facebook updates and Twitter feeds, the gang could figure out which celebs were out of town and where they lived – and break in to steal stuff. This all actually really happened in 2008 and 2009, targeting the homes of Paris Hilton, Rachel Bilson and Lindsay Lohan, to name a few. The Bling Ring premiered in Cannes just this week and is coming to theatres in Belgium in November. In the meantime, watch the trailer at the end of this post.

Water for your Skin // Whenever the sun starts to shine, my skin tends to get dry and in dire need of some extra moisture. Enter Kiehls Ultra Facial Moisturizer! This light yet effective lotion offers just that, and it helps my skin feel soft and conditioned. The crème isn’t greasy at all, and injects the skin with just the right amount of moisture. Love Kiehls! Order your bottle online here for €24.

Fitzgerald’s Magnum Opus // The Great Gatsby has been the talk of the town this week, with the Baz Luhrmann remake airing in cinemas throughout the country. I’ve seen billions of uber-excited tweets and facebook updates about the movie, its actors and its fashion. Fine and all, but allow me to put on my elitist hat by pointing out that Jay Gatsby is in fact a character from a novel. And what a novel that is. Scott F. Fitzgerald paints a beautifully written portrait of the Jazz Age, the Roaring Twenties, in this novel from 1925. I have in fact a movie-date with Leo DiCaprio later tonight, so I hope to be as blown away by the film as I was by the book.

No such thing as too many shoes // I’ve been suffering from a severe case of leopard love for a few years now and there’s still no recovery in sight. How cool are these leopard strappy sandals from Topshop? Per usual, I’d style them with a white tee and some denim, be it a pair of loose boyfriend jeans or skinny ripped ones. Find the heels here.
