Beauty | Winter Essentials

Cold temperatures often ask for a slightly different grooming approach, so I thought it would be fun to show some of my current favourites that help me through cold days beauty-wise. First up: skin & hair! Harsh winds and snow storms aren’t all that nice to an already normal-to-dry skin, so I try to hydrate as much as possible. This thick face cream by L’Occitane is perfect for those extra cold days. Wind and cold = static hair, so I add a drop of John Frieda Frizz ease Hair serum after my shampoo-and-conditioner routine to keep my head from looking like this.

Next up: Shiseido’s limited edition Zen Secret Bloom perfume. I actually got this as a gift on a shoot I worked on. The fragrance is both floral and warm – and I think it smells yummy! That’s just about everything I can tell you about perfumes, after all, I’m no scentologist (but I am good at making up words!).

Pale skin and rosy cheeks and lips are a look I can appreciate during winter, and these two products are perfect for accomplishing just that. The Topshop lipstick is my favourite one at the moment, as it’s moist and subtle enough to wear all day. I use the Benefit Posie Tint most as a blush, but it’s also great as a lip stain. When in doubt, wear pink!

What are your must-have items in your winter beauty case?

The Hot Pink Fake CC Sweatshirt

Colour bomb! Let's give a warm welcome to the newest member of my ever-expanding sweatshirt collection: this hot pink fake CC chanel number from Choies. I love me some grey sweaters (ALL. THE. TIME.) but I'm well saturated on the grey-sweatshirt-front so I made the bold move of ordering this bright pink one. Combined with royal blue pumps and skinny jeans, this sweater will surely bring colour to my day. Order yours here and get 20% off your first order.

Cold Weather Grinch

The Holidays are over, it has been cold, it snowed, people overdosed on snowy-landscape-instagrams, cosy times have been had… SO OVER IT, TIME FOR SPRING! I do enjoy layering up to face the cold (only when absolutely necessary of course, to go to the store for food – or check out the sales in shops), so for the past weeks I’ve been wearing layer on layer on layer on layer of clothing.

Back to work – next time I post my exams will hopefully be OOOVVVVEEEEER. Bye.

I'm wearing a coat, sweater and pants from Zara, denim shirt from Pull & Bear, boots by Topshop, bag, scarf and hat from H&M. Pics by Polienne.

What I'm Wearing Today: A Still Life

Tick-tock tick-tock – that’s the sound of the days slowely passing by.

Scratch-scratch – that’s the sound of me counting down the days on my calendar.

WHOO-HOOOOO – that’s the sound of me in about five days, after I’ve hopefully just finished my last exam (well it’s not really my last as I have one lined up next Monday, but that’s just a presentation/talk with my professor, so should be fine) in a somewhat successful fashion. Since we’re talking about fashion, (see what I did there?) here’s what I’m wearing today. I’m thinking about wearing this for my film theory final as well, since it's an oral one and thus requires the wearing of a pretty dress, right?

I’m terribly sorry for the sad still life pic but I’ll probably meet up with Polly later today so I can shoot this pretty Pins & Needles dress (from Urban Outfitters, previously featured on the blog here) in the snowly landscapes!

 Have a nice Monday, love.

Leopard prints & Denim

At first I was all like OMG how comfy are these shoes? But then I actually walked in them for longer than 5 seconds, and reality sunk in. High heeled shoes = never comfy, no matter how high the platform. So I probably won’t get as much wear out of them as I get out of my converses and nikes, but they’re F21 and thus cheap, so it don’t matter all that much. Let’s just call ‘em my cab-to-curb heels. Perfect for casually lounging next to one Styling Dutchman and one sad abandoned pine tree.

Okay time for me to reaaally hit the books as not much bookhitting has been done over the past few days. Ah the age-old question: WHY IS LIFE SO DISTRACTING? So while I’m nerding away behind my desk, do let me know what you think of this outfit – it’s not really one I’m particularly happy with but it’s outfitpicturescrisistime so I had to post. Byez.

I'm wearing a dress & jacket both from H&M's Divided department, high heeled boots from F21 (Similar from Diesel via Spartoo schoenen) and dear old Balenciaga. Pics by Polienne.

Leftovers

HELLOOOO! No I haven't been snowed under or went into hibernation, although I wish I could start my winter sleep and snooze right through January - month of studying, taking exams, overdosing on caffeine and freaking out. Instead I’m tightly holding on to the last bits of my motivation, because the best way out is always trough. So please excuse me while I head back into the dark cave of knowledge – dress code: sweat pants and hair scrunchie *shriek*. Hope these snapshots of things I wore recently (and not so recently – the shorts/shirt combo) will keep you happy. I’ll be back to regular posting soon, promise.

New in | Veronique Branquinho Boots

pic by MigalskiMedia
You’ve already seen this picture of my new babies, but here’s one doing them much more justice. My new bootylicious Belgian boots are by Veronique Branquinho and are a tremendous sales find. During one of my daily virtual strolls I spotted them on Spartoo schoenen, my online go-to for beautiful shoes and the best sales deals. My heart skipped a beat upon finding out they were marked down to -70%, which also made my decision to click them into my shopping basket as quickly as possible way easy. Already loads of positive comments have been given (and happily received, thanks!) on Instagram, but unfortunately they’re all sold out online - I will let you know if they pop up somewhere else, promise!

As If | Wildfox goes Clueless

"This is where Dionne lives. She's my friend because we both know what it's like for people to be jealous of us. "

"Dionne and I were both named after famous singers of the past, who now do infomercials."

“Would you look at that girl?"
"She is so adorably clueless. We've got to adopt her.”

"Cher’s main thrill in life is a makeover."
"It gives her a sense of control in a chaotic world."

“She's like one of those Botticelli chicks.”

“We're alternating Cindy Crawford's Aerobicize and Buns Of Steel and reading one nonschool book a week.”

“In America, we drive on the right side of the road.”
“I am. "You try driving in platforms."

"He does dress better than I do, what would I bring to the relationship?"

“Also, sometimes you have to show a little skin."
"This reminds guys of being naked, and then they think of sex.”

"As If."
