Outfit | Blogger Fatigue

Ughhh - I’ve been feeling kind of indifferent towards the act of blogging lately. When thinking about the reasons for this blogging fatigue I’m leaning towards blaming the weather, school work and general lack of inspiration writing-wise. Don’t worry, I’m thinking things will go back to normal when spring finally decides to come around. It’s still freezing (and has been for 2 months now) so I’m really limited in my clothing options – warm shoes, comfy cardi’s, lots of layers and that damn coat. I stocked up on plenty of coats for the colder days, but all I really want to wear is my trusty Barbour, probably the warmest coat I ever owned. No bare ankles, sunkissed skin or flimsy dresses just yet, but I’m counting down the days for that. How do you guys cope with the cold?

Another thing I wanted to address: the content of Dogs and Dresses! I’m always trying to blog about fun stuff, but are there any topics in particular that you want to see more of? Let me know below, would love to hear your feedback!

I’m wearing a burgundy oversized knit from New Look, denim shirt from Pull&Bear, khaki green pants and tote bag from H&M, burgundy converses, Zara scarf and Karen Walker Eyewear sunnies. Pics by Polienne.

Hunkemöller Swimwear 2013

Coconut cocktails, slices of pineapple, Mediterranean beats and lots of bronzed skin: sounds like the perfect holiday in a warm country, but all of the above went down in a beautiful building in the center of Amsterdam. The Hunkemöller team chose one of the coldest days of the year to present their 2013 swimwear collection, but the pretty bikinis made me warm up in a second.

This summer is all about colour and bold prints. Floral, paisley and python, bright pinks and shiny gold will make you stand out on the beach. Summer, bring it on! The swimwear collection will be available at your Hunkemöller store in May and online on www.hunkemoller.com.

Hooray! Celebration! Party!

My favourite Grecian girl Afroditty finally turned twentehhh-one last week - cue Britney’s I’m not a girl – so a celebratory dinner was in order. Place of jubilations was Berlin, a cosy restaurant slash bar only about a stone’s throw away from my place. The perfect situation to pull out my highest of heels and shortest of dresses, one would think. But unfortunately, baby Afrodite was born in one cold month, and even the 2 minute walk couldn’t convince my rational self to dress up in anything but a warm sweater. My inner Béyonce did get the best of me and thus I wore sequin pants. Because, well, yolo.

Oh and btw: we go out for dinner? Kim’s buying burgers - only certainty in life. Thanks for the fun night out galpals!

Redheads Rule! | Axelle Red
Fashion Victim @ Modemusem Hasselt

Axelle Red at the openingevent of Axelle Red / Fashion Victim at the Fashion Museum in Hasselt, Limburg.

Mark those calendars: my favourite kind of theme park, also known as Maasmechelen Village, just gained themselves some bonus points by teaming up for a three-year long partnership with the Fashion Museum in Hasselt. The first expo is all about one lady whose petit posture says nothing about the big star she actually is; Axelle Red, one of Belgiums finest, turned her very interesting closet upside down and took over the fashion museum. Result? Crazy cowgirl-inspired outfits, an exuberant hat collection and loads of Belgian designers.

Miss Red likes to think outside the box, and even does so by displaying part of her expo over at Maasmechelen Village. Visit the designer outlet on the 24th of February (this Sunday!) between 15.00 and 16.00 to meet & greet with the artist herself. Start your day off with a lovely lunch at Cellini’s and some very-good-value shopping, have a talk with Axelle Red and then head to Hasselt to experience her Fashion Victim exposition at first hand. Have fun - I know I did!

New In | Urban Decay Naked

Urban Decay Naked & Naked2 eyeshadow palette

I’m not the biggest authority when it comes to make-up (actually I’m no authority at all), but I do love to discover new products and learn about new brands. Urban Decay is far from a new brand, and their Naked and Naked2 eyeshadow paletes are the favourite products of many make-up artists. I’ve come across these palettes on numerous blogs and lovely ladies all over the globe seem to swoon  over them, so I was very curious to see how these looked in real life. Not available in Belgium, these eyeshadows were a great excuse for a trip to the Netherlands. I found both of them in Sephora Maastricht and totally jumped on the bandwagon after trying them out. The shades are great and can be used in both a natural or dramatic eye look. Swoon!

Outfit | in Amsterdam

New week, new outfit post! The past week can easily go into history as the one where I felt like an old woman 80% of the time. It started with spraining my back while cleaning up, a funny little thing that made me experience the most serious physical pain I’ve ever felt. On Tuesday I was invited to travel to Amsterdam, so I choked down a handful of painkillers and managed to get on the bus. Yay. So here am I, high out of my mind on pain killers, posing on one of Amsterdam’s lovely bridges. I spent a total amount of 2 hours in the city itself – I was invited for the collection presentation of your favourite swimwear brand, more on that later – but I can surely say I will be visiting Amsterdam again soon. Anyways, enough talking, time for me to head back to bed – I also caught the flu and managed to welcome yet another back injury. Conclusion: I’m growing old. X

New Look, New Look

Last week a new and improved New Look revealed its uhmm.. new look during a rather exclusive shopping night. Drinks, fellow bloggers, awesome music and a whopping 50% discount made this the ideal time to stock up on some much-needed spring gear. I was lucky enough to receive a shopping voucher that allowed me to go crazy over all the pretty New Look stuff without having to starve myself for the rest of the month.

Theme of the night: black and white.
Not only the decorations but also the entire helpfull New Look staff was dressed accordingly.

Spring colours! Candy!
My favourite part of the store: the basement floor, filled to the brim with shoes and accessories.
Who did I ran into there? Miss BrunetteBlogging, who was feeling particulary lucky.
New Look's shoe heaven
My two favourite Kim's after a fulfilling shopping experience
and me and my champagne in the pretty changing rooms.
The loot! I went for an entire outfit, with a denim skirt, patent leather loafers, cute heart-printed button-up, salmon-coloured shirt, 'cheeky' sweatshirt, loads of accessories (panda!) and even undies and a bikini.
Spring, I'm ready for you!

Thanks a bunch to Tan-dem Press and New Look Antwerp.

#TBY3

UPR Belgium, one of Antwerps finest when it comes to public relations, held its biannual bloggerfest last week. The Big You, already going on its third edition, is an event at which all brands represented by UPR are put in the spotlight. Bloggers go from booth to booth, get to know new brands and discover the latest collections, all whilst in the lovely company of fuzzy drinks and fun colleagues. Here’s a recap of some of my favourite brands.
