Chunky Boots for Spring

Dr Martens in Evan / via Spartoo schoenen - €145

Sometimes you unexpectedly fall in love with someone or something that has always been around. It’s not love at first sight, but that doesn’t mean the feeling isn’t as overwhelming and powerful as a true coup de foudre. Dr Martens have always been around, and they used to always catch my eye – but not my heart. Up until this point. I mean: LOOK AT THEM. They’re pastel, floral and seem to be a bit lighter of shape than your usual black docs. I’d pair these with flimsy summer dresses, pastel coloured skirts and satin tops. Throw a denim vest over it all and you’re ready to walk out the door in the best spring outfit ever. Just take a look below. Do you like them as much as I do? Or is their appeal totally lost on you?

Shorts and Sunshine

Sunshine, where art thou? These pictures were taken on one of those first lovely sunny days, which I miss. SO. MUCH. Life’s so much better when there’s rays of sun accompanying your every move. I planned on driving up to Antwerp with my brother and his girlfriend this weekend to guide them through town, show them the pretty spots, and maybe even do some shopping, but due to crazy snow storms on the 23th of March (whuuuut?), we ended up just staying inside, warming up on caramel lattes. Winter 2013: been there, done that, can we move on now?

This is also the last set of photos with my long hair. Don’t freak out, I didn’t cut my hair that much – it’s still long, just a bit healthier and lighter. You’ll see the result soon enough! I have a super busy week coming up (the days leading up to a holiday are always the most hassle, aren’t they?), so I better get to work.

I'm wearing shorts from MINKPINK via Urban Outfitters, mint jumper from H&M, Zara coat, Ray Ban sunnies, pretty Just Julia bow bracelet, a See by Chloé tote and River Island boots.Pics by Polienne.

Stay hydrated, kids!

Wrangler Denim Spa Smooth Leg jeans
Caring and moisturizing product on the inside of jeans? Yeah right. I didn't really care about the so-called magical effect of these jeans; I purely fell in love with them because of their great fit and major comfiness. It was not after wearing them a few times that I discovered they might actually do what they promise after all. Who would've thought my legs feel way smoother and less dry after a day's wear?! The hydrating ingredients last up to 15 days, which isn’t all that long, but you can re-spray them with a special product. Honestly, I’m usually always a bit on the fence when it comes to too-good-to-be-true marketing promises, but I must say these jeans are pretty cool. Anyways, I'm sure you're probably more interested in the fit and colour of the jeans rather than the pleasant side-effect when purchasing denim (why else would you smudge on piles of moisturising cream after a shower?). But in all honesty, these are awesome, tight without being too tight, comfortable without sagging after wearing them. If you're looking for a new pair of classic, fits-with-everything jeans, I highly recommend trying these on at your Wrangler boutique or take a look on Asos.

Bobble Water Bottle
The best way to hydrate is of course by drinking water, and lots of it. Buying bottles of water over and over again can become quite expensive, and needless to say it’s hard on the environment (go green!). Enter the magical world of the Bobble: a reusable bottle that filters water as you drink, using a carbon filter that’s easily replaceable (every filter equates to 300 single-serve bottles). Get your Bobble at YOUR Antwerp or online here

Rituals Moisture Recovery Night Cream
Ahh, silky soft skin. Sometimes drinking water isn’t enough to prevent you from dry skin - especially in those horrible winter months. That’s when this Rituals night cream comes to the rescue. Its rich texture is non-greasy but really feeds my skin, leaving it soft and moisturised. Rituals has an entire range of skincare to cater to the dry skin, so I suggest you check out their online shop here.

New In | Kipling Super City Bag

With my daily visits to the university library, attending classes and prancing around town running errands, I was on the look-out for the perfect carry-all. Spoiler alert: I FOUND IT! The Super City Bag by Kipling is the perfect answer to all my prayers: spacious, light and blends in perfectly with my wardrobe. This particular style actually comes in a variety of splashy colours, but I’m fond of the more neutral warm grey version. Matches perfectly with my Balenciaga! I also love the fact that Kipling is an Antwerp-based brand, perfect for a city girl living and studying in A-town.

I’m leaving for a press trip to Germany tonight and I’ve already filled up my new Kipling bag with all my blogger essentials. Laptop: check, iPad: check, notebook: check, sunnies: check, drinks: check. What type of bag do you use to attend classes or go to work? Is this Kipling bag something you’d see yourself toting around? Let me know!

Outfit | Mirrored Glasses

So I might have been too quick to jump on the Woohoo-It’s Spring-wagon – I’m currently decked out like an eskimo since it’s minus 5°C in the city. Anyways, here’s an outfit I wore on one of those first delightful warm days of this year. Right before boarding the Rihanna bus towards Amsterdam, Kim and I escaped to the docks to shoot some quick pics near the water. My new sunnies came in handy – it was a lovely sunny day.

I'm wearing: coat, sweater and glasses from H&M, scarf from Zara, G-star denim, Nike Dunk Sky High, Balenciaga city. Pics by BrunetteBlogging.

Event Report | Amsterdam
with Rihanna & River Island

How to go from never been to Amsterdam to visiting two times in one month, with a third visit in the near future? Start blogging your ass off! After my whirlwind visit to the Dutch capital earlier this month to check out some summery swimwear, it was now time for more spring-appropriate gear.

The 5th of March went into history as the day miss Rihanna launched her first capsule collection for the British highstreet brand River Island. After showcasing the collection at London Fashion Week and receiving a bunch of good critique, I was extremely excited to check out the collection for myself. So on Monday the 4th we drove off into the sunset – in one big VIP party buss y’all. Destination: the Kalverstraat in Amsterdam for an exclusive pre-shopping night. Goal: score a skintight sexy dress. I wasn’t really planning on buying anything as the collection is a bit too street for my taste, but when I saw the LBD Rihanna herself wore to the unveiling of RiRi x River Island at LFW and for afterpartying with Cara and Jourdan, I caved. Tight but really flattering, and with an amazing open back = the perfect party dress. Photo report!

The dress!

Saw something you like? Shop the collection online here or stop by
the River Island store on the Meir in Antwerp.

Oh Hi Spring!

It looks as if spring has finally arrived - I spent a great deal of yesterday and the day before that lounging in the sun, sipping wine on my balcony and listening to summery tunes. A change of weather calls for a change of apparel, so SPRING CLEANING it is! I'd love to add these dresses, shoes and bags to my upcoming wardrobe (and I might have already ordered some of them online, woops). What is your favourite item for spring?

Three times a Nike | Dunk Sky High

Seeing triple. Don't worry, you haven't had one gin-tonic too many, it's just me and my intractable obsession with wedge sneakers. I fell for the Ash sneakers about a year ago, but have since then moved on to other things.. These Nike's in particular. The grey ones were on heavy rotation for the past months, so I decided to add a new pair to my collection. And then I accidentally got myself  another pair. Compulsive collecting behaviour. But let's look at it from a positive POV: when I like something, I clearly really commit to it. Hashtag loyal.

How do you feel about these babies? Are you as smitten with them as I am, or are your done-done-done with the whole wedge sneaker trend?
