A Lovely Stay in Amsterdam

Press events that require a overnight stay in one of the city’s fanciest hotels: sign me up! Two great brands (coincidentally both underwear and lingerie brands) held events on two consecutive nights in Amsterdam, so I was happy to check into a hotel room for the night. Place of choice: Andaz, perfectly located on the Prinsengracht, right in the middle of the 9 Straatjes, one of Amsterdam’s many shopping districts. This 5 star boutique hotel was so pretty I just had to capture and share our experience! Spacious rooms, lots of books and a big fat wink at the typical Dutch stereotypes (clogs on the wall and a Delft blue restroom) made our stay very pleasant.

The thing I always look forward to the most when staying at hotels is the breakfast buffet. And just like the rooms and interior in this place, it did not disappoint. I chose to start my day with chamomile tea and French toast, while the boyfriend enjoyed a shrimp and potato omelet and fresh orange juice. The staff was superfriendly and easy-going, and I kinda wished I could wake up like this every day!

After having checked out at noon, it was time to wander around the city and soak up all of the typical Amsterdam surroundings. Along with gal pals Afro and Kim we checked out a few stores – I stopped by Dutch brands Scotch & Soda and Supertrash, but also walked into Costes and Monki. After a yummie lunch break at the Esprit caffe (which I can highly recommend for its broad menu and fair prices, the service not so much), Cédric and me went to discover Amsterdam some more. We had never been to the old part of town, and walked around the red light district with sheer astonishment in our eyes. Amsterdam has such a free spirit, which is actually in great contrast to Antwerp! The people, the architecture, the vibe… Amsterdam, we’ll be back!
I sincerely hope you’ve enjoyed this peek into our Amsterdam experience. Thanks to UPR for making these exciting two days possible, and tune in later for the event reports. All pics by Cédric and myself.
